Things I Love About My Job

Often I forget why I love dancing and all the good things about being a dancer/stripper. It is so glamorized in our society, yet still a cultural taboo. The experience of actually working in the industry makes it very difficult to not get jaded. Everyone needs to be reminded of what they already have and be grateful.

Things I Love About My Job:

The Freedom.
I only work one or two nights a week now. Therefore, I have the freedom of time! Time to read, question life, my views, and my beliefs. Time to figure out what I want out of life, besides the things money can buy. Time is an amazing gift!

Traveling.
I can go to almost any city in the nation and find a strip club to work at, job security at its finest! Plus, when I travel to work it is a tax write off. Even if I just go on vacation and scout clubs to work at, it becomes a business trip.

Once In A Lifetime Experiences.
A Perfect example would be last week at work, my "Monday". I had just finished blow drying my hair in the dressing room and made my way out to the bar. I sat down with the table of customers I normally sit with on Friday nights. However this night, another dancer actually stuck around for more then just a greeting. Unusual, but I was still going through my culture shock and entering fantasy land haze.

I adjusted to the darkness and loud music and joined the conversation. We all talked for a bit and the other dancer asked to get a picture with me. I was a little shocked, but tried not to show it. One of the customers informed me she was the feature dancer for the weekend, as they ushered us into a quick pose.

Throughout the night, I finally got the whole story. I  found out she was a porn star, who only did girl on girl porn. In Oregon, I actually met someone successful in the industry for the first time. In Nevada and California there are many successful people from the Industry, but not in Oregon!

Meeting famous people and not knowing who they are and just being real with them is Amazing. I know how it feels to be treated differently, because of what I do for work. It can be a breath of fresh air to be treated just like a real person by a stranger!
